Alana was a Post Doctoral Researchers at CEED's University of Melbourne Node until mid 2016. Alana's background is in pure and applied mathematics. She is interested in applying and extending mathematical optimisation methods to solve problems in conservation biology and environmental management.
Current projects include: optimal monitoring when detection rates vary, using ecological theory to derivemeaningful indices for conservation, accounting for uncertainty when designing conservation reserves and evaluating how well the existing protected reserve network in French Guiana is expected to protect key ecosystem properties under a range of future climate and land-use scenarios.
