Tanja is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) in Berlin and earned her Ph.D. with CEED at the Australian Research Centre for Urban Ecology at the University of Melbourne (supervised by Brendan Wintle, Pia Lentini, Rodney van der Ree, Dave Kendal and Lindy Lumsden).
Her research to date has focused on the integration of social and natural sciences into environmental research and conservation strategies as well as (urban) insectivorous bats. This has included research and field work experiences in Australia, Germany, India and New Zealand.
Between her PhD and postdoc position, Tanja was a Scientific Officer for Nature and Wildlife Protection in a German NGO. Having gained experiences in academia and the NGO sector, Tanja is today very passionate about the knowledge transfer between different stakeholder groups; which is also a part of her current postdoc research.
