Matthew is a PhD candidate at RMIT, with Associate Professor Sarah Bekessy, where he is investigating human decision-making in incentivised conservation programmes. In conjunction with this work he is exploring predictive tools and theories used by other disciplines to forecast human behaviour and their potential value to conservation science. Matthew's interest in human behaviour stems from his previous research at Imperial College focused on the effectiveness and social outcomes of voluntary stewardship programmes on private lands in South Africa. His scholarship is in part supported by CEED through Theme C: Socio/Ecological Analysis and Modelling for Environmental Decision-Making.
